St. Vincent de Paul Society
Our parish has a very active St. Vincent de Paul chapter. The Society assists the poor and needy in times of crisis. This “hands on” service depends on volunteers who visit the poor and help assess, as well as meet, their needs. Contact 901-236-9327
In addition to supporting our Ozanam Center Soup Kitchen at 1306 Monroe, St. Louis SVDP works the soup kitchen at Holy Names every Wednesday. The Ozanam Center Soup Kitchen serves a meal to the poor every day of the year from 9 am-11. Average number of guests per day is 200. Our soup kitchen is expanding services to those we help and recently did blood pressure checks. We are now offering guests reading materials and personal hygiene items. Drop off magazines, books, soap, shampoo, and deodorant to 1306 Monroe or leave them in St. Louis Church office marked for SVDP and we will deliver them.
If you would like to help the poor and learn more about SVDP, please attend one of our meetings. Our St. Louis Conference meets the first Monday each month in the Clunan Center at 6pm. Our Memphis Diocese Council meets the second Monday each month at 6:45pm and we rotate the location each month among our 10 parish members. Thank you again for remembering the poor in your donations to SVDP. God bless!
We collect food year round with food baskets in the Narthex and at both side doors and we collect clean clothing at the little house in the back parking lot. God bless you for helping others.
If you would like to join SVDP and get involved with helping those in need, please call 755-8213. Thank you St. Louis parishioners for your continued generosity in helping the less fortunate in Memphis. We are truly blessed to have such a giving parish. God bless.
SVDP thanks all the parishioners for their furniture donations and the workers who helped deliver the furniture to our needy families this past weekend!
St. Vincent De Paul will have our monthly meeting this Monday, May 1st at 6pm in the Clunan Center. All parishioners are welcome to attend! The meeting only lasts one hour. Come hear about our worthwhile ministry to the needy and poor of our city.
Food donations are needed to allow us to take food boxes to our families. Please bring toilet paper, cleaning supplies, pasta sauce, peanut butter, canned fruit, soup and cereal. Monetary donations are also always needed to continue our ministry!
Thanks for your generosity!
